Mohammad Reza Khalatbarie – Founder of RECORD. Founder's note:
RECORD studio, currently functioning as the most reputable and highly achieved advertising photography studios in Iran, has come to existence as a result of my personal efforts and commitment to one of the finest, most elegant professions I am grateful to have known: PHOTOGRAPHY.
My name is Mohammad R. Khalatbarie. I was born in Tehran/ Iran in 1967.
Being a Canadian/Iranian citizen who has lived and worked in Canada during the years 1986-1997, I followed strong urges towards drawing, painting and other visual arts and attended a number of drawing / painting classes to acquire basic knowledge necessary for launching a career in related fields.
In the year 1992 I signed up for COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY program at DAWSON COLLAGE in Montréal/Canada, a serious and intense photography course.
I graduated in the year 1995 majoring in advertising (illustration) and Architectural photography.
My portfolio was picked as the best in the category and second amongst all categories.
History
The following is a brief history of some of the important projects which have come to form the backbone of RECORD:
.Photographing the esteemed Queen Elizabeth hotel/Montréal using 4x5 cameras and slide film. (1993).
.Photographing the Intercontinental hotel/Montréal using 4x5 cameras and slide film. (1993).
.Photographing a great number of landmarks and historical monuments and buildings in Montréal such as the Saint Joseph church and the Olympic stadium during the years 1992-1996 all using view cameras and slide film.
.Photographing Everglade's region/Florida and its wild life for a period of two months producing numerous 135 slides and negatives.
.Photographing interior and exterior spaces of offices, shops, restaurants for a number of Montréal architects as full paying contracts during the years 1993-1997.
.Photographing numerous food photography assignments for different manufacturers of precooked food products during the years 1994-1997.
.Started a serious career in advertising photography in Iran in the year 1997.
.Photographing 20 to 30 cast-iron manhole lids for Chodan Kaveh Badr co. in studio. (1998).
.Photographing Ronass industrial paint company Arak/Iran, producing over 200 frames of medium format negatives from interior/exterior spaces, production lines, quality control units etc. (1999).
.Photographing fully designed photos of tuna fish dishes for Poolak (Sanaye Ghazayee Fadlak) company for calendars. (1999).
.Photographing food shots (jam-beans-stews- tomato paste etc.) for Delangiz food industries.(1999).
.Photographing household electric fans for General electric appliances company.(2000).
.Photographing the location of Shishe Bastebandy Takestan ,Takestan/Iran including its office spaces, laboratories, production lines factory site, aerial photos of the factory,etc. carrying out studio photography of their products.(2000-2001-2002).
.Photographing studio shots of crank shafts and production line and factory shots for Pars Millang company, producer of crank shafts.(2001).

.Carrying out different billboard advertising photography plan with the theme of "person in tub" and other indoor shots of bath tubs and bath tub cabinets for well known Jacuzzi and bath tub producer; Sci-Tech.(2007-2008).

Altogether I have come to cherish over 17 years of real life experience as a professional photographer, Signing and carrying out over 300 full paying contracts only in the field of product and advertising photography.
All the years of earning valuable experience, dependable knowledge, pure craftsmanship, and love for the business and art of photography have come together now to form an organization dedicated to solely two goals; producing works of outstanding quality and, ever increasing customer service and satisfaction.

RECORD is the most valued & the most professional center for learning photography skills in Iran.
What started out in 1379 has over the years been refined and upgraded regularly to form a program complete enough to include all technical aspects and yet intense enough to be carried out during a reasonable amount of time enriched with highest level of information delivered.
In spite of numerous demands, RECORD only accepts few students a year. Those accepted are usually determined and serious about photography and are willing to commit themselves to this fine craft.
RECORD is not the average institute to sign up a number of students just to perform routine class to class instructions regardless of the student’s abilities, time chart, and or long term needs. At RECORD every students receives a personal specialized program. Further more every student must be assessed and interviewed before registration. The training courses are divided into three sections:
         1) Basic courses
         2) Lighting courses
         3) Advance courses
         Basic courses are performed for everyone regardless of their intended field. It is consisted of a basic knowledge of the camera body,          focusing techniques, auto focus and manual focus, getting to know the viewfinders information, aperture, shutter, the relation          between the aperture and the shutter, exposure mode dial, aperture priority, shutter priority, depth of field, controlling depth of          field, lenses, focal length of lenses, different types of lens, lenses to be used for each application, using in camera light meter,          basic techniques of composing pictures, the importance of using tripod, and basic knowledge around sensitivity (ISO).
         Basic courses are made up of at least 10 sessions for one who is just starting out. Each session lasts about one and half hour. At the          end of the course depending on the students need and degree of learning, number of sessions might increase to meet individual          needs.
         Lighting courses are more based on the person’s intended field of activity in photography (i.e. portraiture, product          photography, architectural, etc.).
         It is consisted of the theoretical explanation of light, classification of light based on practical criteria, number of lights needed in a          studio and the function of each, getting to know hand held light meter (incident metering), learning to correctly use a hand held light          meter in studio,
         Reading light from one, two, three and more spots in the studio, controlling contrast and getting the knowledge about flashes, how          studio flashes work, flash metering, different types of lighting, and above all practicing all the theoretic materials learned in studio.
         Lighting courses are made up of at least 10 sessions for one who is just starting out. At the end of the course depending on the          students need and degree of learning number of sessions might increase to meet individual needs.
         Advance courses are for those who successfully complete the other two courses and are fundamentally concerned with posing,          advanced lighting, developing ideas for a photograph, and so on.
         Those who complete the aforementioned classes can expect to acquire adequate knowledge and self confidence to handle a          professional studio all by themselves.
         Everyone trained at RECORD will receive a lifetime support meaning that anytime, anywhere they can rely on guidance and helpful          instructions if need be. Even though all successful/serious students turn into professional photographers, help will be only a phone          call away.
